Main idea vs topic - Main idea: The most important idea being made by the author. What the author is trying to convey to the audience. Usually is a full sentence Topic: The subject of the text. Since the goal of the exposition is to teach it is clear as possible technical passage - Written to DESCRIBE A COMPLEX OBJECT OR PROCESS.
