If there is evidence to back up this brag; then re-election chances really increase toward the politician’s favor. There is no question that fostering a business environment helpful to business development should be a chief aim of any politician. The multiplier effect of each stable job in the economy creates a domino effect in the economy. Politicians are aware of these multiplier effects. This is a time when America is finding ways to sustain its innovation historically. People like Steve Jobs of Apple, Inc. understood how to create jobs, build domestic factories and connect creativity with technology (in ways few people execute). Leaps in the imagination along with feats of engineering are what sustainable businesses do daily. Mr. Job’s truly created a legacy business beyond his lifetime (Isaacson, 2011). In 1978, David Birch published, “America: How Our Smallest Companies Put the Most People to Work.” Birch’s research quantified the fact that small business contributed the most jobs in the U.S. economy. This perception is growing in Congress, the Statehouses and the executive branch. Unfortunately, the most tax incentives go to large companies (including bailout money) historically; but this is shifting in favor of small business as time goes on. As our text points out, small business provides jobs but also provides massive innovation. Bigger companies tend to have a top down caretaker type of attitude; while smaller companies tend to become the new leaders in the new economy.
