Refer to Appendix A in your text and select five categories upon which you will concentrate for your interview guide and questions. Type your answers to the following questions using complete sentences and correct grammar, spelling, and syntax. Note that the form is expandable. Indeed, you may need more pages to include the information that is requested in the guidelines for this assignment. Once you have filled in the form, click Save as and save the file with your last name and assignment, for example, “NR391_Milestone2_Form_Smith”. Submit to the Milestone 2 assignment page by 11:59 p.m. MT Sunday at the end of Week 4. Title: Milestone 2 1. Note the proposed date of the interview. Describe the location of the interview and how privacy will be maintained. Be specific. (20 points) The date scheduled for the interview will be November 27, 2017. The location of the interview will be in Manhattan, New York. It is where the interviewee and I both work. It will take place in one of the patient’s room we have in our unit to ensure that privacy and confidentiality is maintained during the interview. It is a place that she has suggested for her convenience. The room has a door that can be closed to eliminate noise, prevent others from overhearing, and ensures confidentiality and comfort. 2. Describe the process you will use for documenting your interview and what steps you will take to ensure its accuracy. For example, do you plan to take notes and then ask the subject for verification, or do you plan to record the interview in audio or video and then transcribe it? (14 points) I asked the interviewee which process she would feel more comfortable with when documenting the interview. She preferred that I take notes during the interview and not record audio or video during the interview. I plan to take notes during the interview as the interviewee suggested. To ensure accuracy during the interview, I will clarify her answers and verify that what she stated was correctly received. 3. Identify five categories from Appendix A in your text from which you would like to develop primary (and follow-up) questions for your interview. The categories from which you may choose are listed below. • Biocultural Variations and Cultural Aspects of the Incidence of Disease • Communication • Cultural Affiliations • Cultural Sanctions & Restrictions • Developmental Considerations • Economics • Educational Background • Health-Related beliefs and Practices • Kinship and Social Networks • Nutrition • Religion and Spirituality • Values Orientation Type the names of the five categories you have chosen in the table below in the column marked “Categories.” 4. Develop one primary question for each of the five categories. Please note that the questions should be in your own words and designed to elicit meaningful responses, for example, open- ended or focused format. Use the table to type each question next to its corresponding category. (60 points) 5. Develop two follow-up questions for each primary question. Type these next to the corresponding primary questions. (40 points) 6. Indicate reasons for asking specific questions that relate to culture of origin and healthcare experiences. Can you give me examples of verbal or non- verbal practices you practice from your culture? Knowledge of one’s primary language is essential. The preferred language or style of communication is important to identify to prevent miscommunication, misinterpretation, and barriers when Communicatio n Other than English, can you speak, understand, read, or write in another language? 2. Can you tell me about a positive or negative experience you had when trying to communicate to someone from a different language and what you did to help make the communication effective? communicating to someone from a different culture. Category 2: Health-related beliefs and practices Describe your beliefs on health in time of well-ness and illness and is there any practice you do to stay healthy or when you are not feeling well? 1. Tell me about a time you went to someone other than a licensed professional or used traditional home remedies to make you feel better. Understanding how they view health in time of wellness and illness will provide information on how they would go about seeking healthcare. Knowing what influences guide their decisions is essential in time of treatment options and care. 2. Help me understand the influences that play a major role in your decision- making when it comes to healthcare. Category 3: Nutrition Describe the foods that you normally eat at mealtime? 1. Are there specific foods or certain times you do not eat? The food normally found in their diet will identify their nutritional intake. Being aware of food preference and restriction will guide meal planning and teaching. Understanding the value of specific mealtimes and whom they eat with is also vital. 2. With whom do you usually eat meals with and explain the value of the meal or the mealtime. Category 4: Religion and Spirituality Can you identify your practiced religion and describe special spiritual beliefs or practices you take part 1. How does your religion and spirituality influence your healthcare behavior and decision? These questions will give us information of her religion and spirituality needs. Category 5: Educational Background Can you tell me about your highest level of education you completed? 1. What do you believe is your way of learning? Knowing the level of education completed and known learning style will guide teaching and enhance their learning. Understanding her cultures values of education will give knowledge to how they view professionals with extensive education, which can cause limitations when voicing their questions or concerns. 2.
