The current manual system cannot support the magnitude of growth that the Equipment Depot has experienced in recent years in both number of buildings and number of employees needed to maintain those buildings. There has also been a corresponding significant growth in the volume of equipment check-in and check-out transactions and in the volume of equipment inventory. The current manual system cannot handle the daily volume of equipment transactions in an efficient and timely manner. There are also equipment safety usage concerns. Some employees are using equipment that they are not qualified to use. The current system does not provide safeguards by restricting equipment usage only to employees that are skilled in using that equipment. BRIEF STATEMENT OF EXPECTED SOLUTION Development of a new and improved automated Equipment Check-Out System that will solve the above problems. In addition, the new system is to support the enforcement of safety regulations that restrict the use of certain tools to specific skilled employees.
