1. How did you feel throughout the simulation experience?
Overall, I felt as thought I learned a lot about sepsis and just how quickly it can spread
throughout this simulation. I was also able to identify some key concepts in sepsis
prevention and intervention.
2. Describe the objectives you were able to achieve.
By the end of this video, I was able to identify the prioritization of the nurse during their
nursing assessment. I was also able to view the implementation of the nursing
intervention pertaining to sepsis done by the healthcare team. During the video I saw the
nurse give proper delegation task to get the job completed in an efficient manner. One of
the last things I saw in the video was the nurse instructing the client on these
interventions and why they were conducting them.
3. Which ones were you unable to achieve (if any)?
When looking at the list of objectives given to us on the case study, each one was met and
presented throughout the video. Therefore, no objective went unmet.
4. Did you have the knowledge and skills to meet objectives?
Yes. This past two weeks in class we have been studying infection and infection control.
Sepsis is just a larger more deadly part to infectious disease and prevention.
5. Were you satisfied with your ability to work through the simulation?
Yes. I had no trouble working through this simulation and I learned a great deal!
6. To Observer: Could the nurses have handled any aspects of the simulation differently?

The NP that said she had been working for 5 days straight
should not have been there. This is how mistakes happen. If someone comes into our
hospitals with a complaint of fevers, the first thing drawn are blood cultures, lactate, and
a CBC. This should have been drawn way earlier into the patient’s encounter.
7. If you were able to do this again, how could you have handled the situation differently?
As mentioned in the above question if someone comes into our hospitals with a complaint
of fevers, the first thing drawn are blood cultures, lactate, and a CBC. This should have
been drawn way earlier into the patient’s encounter.
8. What did the group do well?
The delegation of task as well as the response feedback was excellent! Their
communication was outstanding. You don’t see that often.
9. What did the team feel was the primary nursing diagnosis?
Ineffective thermoregulation as evidence by hyperthermia related to an unknown
infection.
10. How were physical and mental health aspects interrelated in this case?
The patient’s physical health has correlated with his mental health. In the hospital, he
mentioned how he hoped the hospital would be able to fix him, but they can’t figure out
what’s wrong. The client states he rather go home and sleep there then do sleep in a
hospital bed. The client appears to have lost faith in the medical system and himself.
