The General Practitioner Assessment of Cognition (GPCOG) is a screening test for cognitive impairment in... primary care consisting of a four-component patient assessment and a brief interview (Seeher & Brodaty, 2016). This screening tool has proven to be a reliable, valid and efficient tool to screen for dementia especially in a primary care office (Brodaty et al., 2016). Tool scoring guidelines. The cognitive test totals 9 points consisting of time orientation, clock drawing, awareness of a current news event, and recall of a name and an address indicating the following (Seeher & Brodaty, 2016): • Score of 0-4= cognitive impairment • Score of 5-8= informant interview The informant interview, totaling 6 points, asks the next of kin about memory, word finding difficulties, trouble managing finances, difficulties managing medication independently and needing assistance with transportation.
