Certification Plan for a Nurse Practitioner
American Nurse's Credentialing Center (ANCC) is a certification body for qualified
nurses in the United States. It also regulates the providers of nursing education. ANCC also
monitors the Magnet Recognition Program which evaluates health institutions based on their
nursing excellence (Newhouse, 2013). The body also watches over a program identified as
‘pathway to excellence which helps hospitals to boost the working atmosphere for nurses. It
administers examinations for those that intend to come to be certified as qualified nurses. ANCC
exams are divided into two pieces; the professional practice which takes 17%, the foundation for
advanced practice which comprises 37%, and independent practice which takes 46% (Buppert,
2008). The body has a wide assortment of programs that include mental health, adult mental and
psychiatric care among others. The other body that complements ANCC is the American
Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). This paper expounds a plan of how to pass these
examination offered by these two bodies.

The AANP examination is divided into three parts; the evaluation having 17%, assessment
consisting of 36% and diagnosis having 24%. AANP exam is computer-based and encompasses
