Hopefully we can get some relaxation techniques to help you That makes sense. Describe feeling out of it It's like. . . I just feel slowed down and tired all the time from not sleeping. It's harder to focus, or get things done efficiently. . . I'm just generally less sharp. Are you experiencing anxiety (Clarified to: have you been anxious lately) Lately I've felt pretty anxious, I guess. . . mostly right before bed. I just feel on edge, and like my thoughts can't turn off when I want them to. (Clarified to: if I have been anxious) Sorry to hear that I appreciate you telling me that. Model Statement: "I’m sorry to hear about your trouble sleeping and stress. I’m glad you came in. Let me learn more about what you’re experiencing, and I will try to help." Description: Tina describes how busy she is with school and work. Are you worrying about anything? I'm stressed now because I can't sleep, but I can't sleep because I keep worrying about all this other stuff, like graduating, and passing this exam that's coming up, and getting a job, and finding my own place to live. . . it's a lot. Are you having racing thoughts? Model Statement: "It sounds like you have a lot on your plate. I’m sorry you’re dealing with so much stress." Description: Tina describes her sleep hygiene and routine. What is your sleep routine? (Clarified to: What are your sleep habits?) Well. . . I usually get into bed around midnight, but at that point I feel too nervous to sleep, so I'll read to try and wind down for maybe an hour, sometimes longer. Then I turn out the light and try to sleep. If it takes a really long time, then sometimes I'll turn the light back on and read a little more until I feel sleepier. (Clarified to: what my sleep habits are) Can you describe your difficulty sleeping? (Clarified to: what is your sleep like) I don't know what you want to know. . . mostly, it's that I can't get to sleep at a reasonable time, but I also feel like the quality of my sleep is worse in general. (Clarified to: what my sleep is like) Are You Restless at night? (Clarified to: are you restless) Not generally, but right before bed I do start to feel kind of restless. (Clarified to: if I am restless) How often do you wake up during the night? I'd say two or three times a night for at least ten minutes each, usually. How long has this been going on? I am sorry to hear that I appreciate you saying that. how many times a week do you have difficulty sleeping It's happening most nights, I'd say. Four. . . more like five nights a week. Can you take naps during the day? I'm not really a big nap person--if I fall asleep, I want to sleep for hours, not wake up in twenty minutes feeling groggy. Plus I don't have time for them, anyway. What makes you have difficulty sleeping worse What aggravates your difficulty sleeping (Clarified to: What makes it harder for you to sleep?) Basically, the more I think about what I'm worried about, the worse it is. Sometimes I can distract myself and not let myself start thinking about all the things that stress me out, but that's been rare. (Clarified to: what makes it harder to sleep) Sorry to hear that Thanks. We should be able to find you some ways to help relax OK, I understand. Are you drinking caffeine (Clarified to: How late in the day do you drink caffeine?) 6/6/2018 Mental Health | Completed | Shadow Health https://chamberlain.shadowhealth.com/assignment_attempts/3558473 5/10 Question 01:14 PM CDT Question 01:15 PM CDT Question 01:15 PM CDT Educate 01:15 PM CDT Question 01:18 PM CDT Empathize 01:19 PM CDT Question 01:30 PM CDT I know it's bad to drink too much caffeine, especially when you're having sleep problems, so I try not to drink it after the morning. (Clarified to: how late in the day I drink caffeine) Can you drink caffeine to stay alert during the day? (Clarified to: do you drink caffeine every day) Yeah, I drink diet Coke pretty much every day. It's the only thing that wakes me up in the morning. (Clarified to: if I drink caffeine every day) How many Diet Cokes you drink a day? I drink maybe four diet sodas a day. We need to work on limiting the diet sodas per day. Sure, I think I understand what you mean. What helps you sleep easily Basically the only way I get to sleep easily is if I manage to feel less stressed out--sometimes I can sort of turn my thoughts away from what I'm worried about by distracting myself with something, like thinking about what I'm going to wear the next day or something like that. I'd rather avoid having to take medication if possible. Taking deep breaths can help a little, too. I understand [Show More]
