Week 8 Psychiatric Evaluation
Subjective:
CC (chief complaint): “Jesus. The History Department had a party last night a Darrel's. Why
don't you bring him in here and question him?”
HPI: Ms. Patel is a 48-year-old, Asian, Female who presents to this session due to complaints by
parents, students, and teachers for possible alcohol abuse. The session was requested by Principal
Michaels due to these complaints and being late to classes for 22 days. She denies that she has
been late that many times and appears agitated by the statement. It was asked how things are
going at home and school. She responds with “My personal life is fine and personal”.
When pushed further for the information she gets more agitated and brings up that the
history department had a party that she went to last night. Her coworker, Darrel, hosted the party
and she is upset that he is not being brought in to be questioned. The party had alcohol available,
and she states they had too much to drink, but that it was everyone and not just her. She is
defensive and brings up how the school hosts social hours on campus monthly. She states that
she drank but was not drunk at the party.
The morning after the party she awoke on Darren’s couch and Darren had already left for
work. She is angry that he did not wake her before he left, and she was late because of her
drinking last night. However, she states that everyone has passed out during parties and is
defensive. She denies being drunk presently and while teaching.
She gets irritable and angry when it is discussed about the complaints of her being drunk
during class. In response she states, “Well, bring them in. Let them tell me that to my face.
Because it is not true” with clear agitation in her face and body language. The complaints
