Psychosocial factors are defined as factors that can affect certain areas of a person's life
especially the_ir physical health. According to the_ text when health professionals overlook or
just don't feel the_ need to include the_ psychosocial factors this creates problems in the_ care
of the_ patient. Many times healthcare professionals do not have enough staff and this creates
rushing through patient education or alleviating it altogethe_r due to time restraints. Unless
health professionals understand the_ patient's perceptions of his or her condition and
treatment, the_ effectiveness of any patient teaching intervention as well as the_ level of
adherence with any treatment advice given will be seriously compromised attribute to the_ir
condition (Flavo, 2014). Some examples of the_ psychosocial factors would be: Time restraints
due to decreased workforce, physicians and nursing poor communication, and physician’s lack of
interest in psychosocial factors of the_ patient.

as gargling for a sore throat or resting an over-exerted limb. If patient teaching is to be effective,
psychosocial factors cannot be avoided. Giving patients information about the_ir condition or
