During a 3-year-old well child visit we will Check the child's weight and height, calculate BMI,
and plot the measurements on growth charts. I have been told that some clinics check the child's
blood pressure and vision if the child is cooperative. Incidentally, the clinic I work in does not
see
babies. The caregiver would be asked questions that will address any concerns and offer any
guidance they may need. The child’s eating habits, will be ascertained. This will include how
much
how often, and what they are eating. There feeding should include 3 meals and 2 healthy snacks.
It is important to review the child’s potty training. The preschooler may be potty trained or using
the potty during the day. It is not uncommon for kids this age to have an occasional accident
during
the day and still need a diaper at night.
