Marks for this question: AO1 = 2, AO2 = 2 [4 marks] Level Marks Description 2 3 – 4 Knowledge of classical conditioning is clear and mostly accurate. The material is applied appropriately. The answer is generally coherent with effective use of terminology. 1 1 – 2 Some knowledge of classical conditioning is evident. Application is not always appropriate. The answer lacks accuracy and detail. Use of terminology is either absent or inappropriate. 0 No relevant content. Possible content: • balloon as a neutral stimulus when ‘unburst’ • unconditioned response: normally a loud noise / bang causes fear • association between the balloon and bang / bursting • ‘new learning’ that balloons alone (now unconditioned stimulus) now elicit a fear response (conditioned response). 2 Suggest how a psychodynamic psychologist might explain Emma’s behaviour.
