NR 535 Week 7 Case Study: Academic Integrity – Part II
Part II will open on Wednesday of the week and close on Saturday of the week. You cannot add additional information to Part II once it closes on Saturday. In this part of the case study, you are to review a minimum of one policy for plagiarism at your school.
Please identify three key points in the policy. Note: To complete this part of the case study, please search for an academic integrity policy from any nursing program and use that in the discussion. Provide the web address of the policy and school.

1. Review the instructions for the case study.
• Part II
o Opens on Wednesday and closes on Saturday.
o At the grievance hearing, Susie tells the committee that the faculty member who accused her of plagiarism is much younger and seems to be trying to "make a name for herself." Susie told the faculty member that she has never had another faculty member take points off for any of her APA formatting. The committee's next step is to review the policy for plagiarism at your school. Please identify three key points in the policy.

For Part II of this week case study I choose to review Kean University’s policy because I completed my BSN at Kean and this policy encompasses all programs including the nursing program. According to the Kean University’s academic integrity policy the first point I would like to mention is that, as noted on page 2 of the policy, there are four main categories included in the policy. They consist of, mastery of material, representation of sources, truthful submission of work, and access and use of resources, and all four of these categories are applicable to all members of the Kean community, meaning both student and professors are held to these standards. Secondly, when look at the classification of violation on page 5 of the policy, I would point out that if in fact Susie has submitted papers in the past with no issues or concerns of plagiarism this would not Fall into a level one violation category and not a result of inexperience, but a level two or three violation category base of the percentage of plagiarism found.
Lastly, I would point out on page 11 the appeals process so what ever decision is made with the committee the student understands that she will be able to appeal it further.
