Therefore, it is vital to have assessment skills perfected to the highest level as the nurse is the only health care professional in the hospital who is continuously present at the bedside. Health assessment includes factors such as; culture, values, family, and support networks and not just the physical being, as well as the ability of the patient to care for self.
