1. Based on the info from the presentation: Which company do you think makes the longest-lasting (and better) cell phone? Explain your
thinking. (1 point)
Probably the Talk-a-lot because in all it has 23 hours of standard phone use, Chatting only has
20. I have a feeling that it might change after we figure out the standard deviation.2. Complete the table to summarize each student's point of view: (2 points, 1 point for each)
Student 1
The first girl said that she has 18 hours of talk time on the phone
and her phone stays charged for 2 hours
Student 2
The second guy said that he has 20 hours of talk time on the
phone and his phone stays charged for 3 hours
3. a. Pick one of the two companies and sketch out a normal curve for it. Be sure to label it and
use vertical lines to locate the mean and 1 standard deviation on either side of the mean. (2
points)
I can't find a way to make a line graph on here but the chart would look like with the 20 hours
with the deviation going up and to the right a little bit and the 18 hours with the 2 hours deviation
would follow, it would just be a little lower than the 23 hour phone. What is the range of values for each company to be within 1 standard deviation? (2 points)
Well ChatLong is 16 to 20 hours and Talk a Lot is 17 to 23 hours. To be within one standard
deviation of the mean, means that you have to go from the mean-standard deviation to
mean standard deviation. For example, with ChatLong we go from 18-2 and 18+2 hours and that
gives 16 to 20
