Watson’s theory of care focuses on the relationship between caregivers and patients as well as in holistic care of patients (Alligood, 2013). Watson’s focus was on caring for human beings. The the... ory puts an emphasis on caring as the ethical and moral ideal in nursing care. The theorist further argues that caring for humans preserves their relationships, integrity, and dignity. Watson added that patient care recognizes and appreciates the patient as first being a human being who has a body, soul, and mind.
