Students too often squander that limited space through inattention to structure, substance, and style. This extremely brief guide is intended to help students avoid some frequently observed habits of poor writing. While potentially valuable in other contexts, the “rules” laid out in this document reflect the context in which they arise, namely: concise academic writing submitted to me as a law professor, typically for credit.
