This information is needed to formulate interventions that that address clients’ needs since they are the source of the information. In the regards to the article on domestic violence among Latina women, the relationship between this qualitative research study and evidence based practices proved beneficial for the participants. The study states “Latina women who were interviewed felt that there is little awareness of domestic violence (DV) as being inappropriate or abnormal in their community. Women said that because it occurs in so many martial relationships many Latino men and women see it as the norm. This makes it very difficult for victims to identify domestic violence as being “wrong” and makes it much more difficult for them to turn friends and family for help when needed. Women have also seen it happen on their families of origin and sometimes then believes it is norm. Some families are supportive of women leaving relationships while others are reluctant to hear about a woman’s victimization, and fear retaliation by the husband.
