Case 2: Leadership from an Introvert’s Perspective I. Analysis Section A. This case raises the idea that introverts may be more effective leaders than extroverts in certain types of settings. B.... A problem that extroverts may have in leadership positions is that they take social dominance over a group of people and can lack communication skills with those that they are working with and trying to lead. According to the case, introverts tend to show more empathy and find one-on-one conversations helpful. In turn, this leads to a more successful rate for effectiveness of tasks and assignments. C. Ideas/Experiments: C.1. For the first social experiment, I would have two leaders (Introvert/Extrovert) work together with a group of people. Beforehand, they would discuss between each other what would help them become better managers from their opposite perspectives on effectiveness. During the experiment, they would be equally in charge to direct the members of the group in order to get a better understanding of what each different personality type does well and why it works for them and their effectiveness of their leadership position. Pro: The ability to see if introverts and extroverts can guide each other to get the benefits of having both personalities in an authoritative position. Con: The introvert personality may become shy and uncomfortable working with a strong-minded and confident figure like the extrovert. Cost: None C.2. The second experiment would be where a group of people trying to complete a task has an extroverted leader managing their duties. However, in this study, the people working in the group would have the ability to openly communicate and give feedback to the leader. Additionally, the extrovert would try to have one-on-one conversations and be more empathetic towards the group.
