REL 3308 Term Paper Jihad is a term originating from the people of Islam. The religious term carries the meaning of strife and tribulations; it means much more than just a spiritual ... conflict. There are three different kinds of trials that the term Jihad is used to represent. The first is a faithful Muslims inner struggle to carry out the Muslim faith and way of life. The second is the hardship of constructing a successful Muslim society. The third and final is the battle to protect and defend Islam with armed forces if needed. According to Prophet Muhammad, the inner Jihad is another word for the “greater” Jihad. The “greater” Jihad refers to the internal battle to live their best life according to the Muslim faith.
