According to Imai et al. 2016, understanding human cognition has been part of the topics that deal with t... he relationship between thought, culture and language. The interesting aspect of this reading is the contribution of the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis to the language, thought, and culture's relationship understanding. Initially, before this hypothesis, individuals treated language as a truth system since philosophy was the basis of language theories. Edward Sapir and Benjamin Whorf argued that the human understanding of the world around us was shaped by language instead of it just reflecting reality as a mirror.
