She had good results in that her pain resolved and she did not have any sensory or motor deficits. Pain from this disc increases with weight gain and lack of low impact exercise, e.g., walking.

Steroids do not change the underlying condition, they can break the cycle of pain and inflammation and allow the body to compensate for the condition. In this way, the injections can provide benefits that outlast the effects of the steroid itself.
Jacquline Catanazaro received intraspinal corticosteroids and physical therapy. The corticosteroids are helpful in reducing localized inflammation and thus relieving the pain. Physical therapy will develop an individualized exercise program dependent on the location and nature of the injury and the type of pain.
