There are four log cores, one from a master log of known age and three sample logs, AC. I have provided the dates for when the Master Log started growing and when it was cut, AD 1213 and AD 1247 respectively. The spaces between each line represents a year of growth (or one tree ring) on each of the logs. The Sample Logs have already been lined up with the Master Log for you, so all you have to do is find the exact dates for each ring of the Master Log and answer the following questions for each of the Sample Logs. It can be very helpful to print out the diagram and use a ruler to currently estimate the dates. If you do, be sure to print the graphic in LANDSCAPE view or some of the data may be cut off.
