Improve my knowledge of respiratory function and diseases. Complete respiratory subject specific exams in the APEA myQbank. A consistent score of at least 90% is the goal.
Review respiratory/pulmonary in the Clinical Guidelines in Primary Care textbook.
Read at least 5- advanced practice nursing/medical journal articles related to respiratory.
Attend the online FNP Intensive week 7 of this course and focus on respiratory during the review. These goals should be accomplished at week 7 after intensive review, prior to our APEA post-predictor exam. I will continue to review necessary materials throughout week 8 before taking the APEA post- predictor exam. Improving my respiratory assessment, diagnosis, and treatment skills will ensure that I have the knowledge to care for patients and make evidence-based decisions regarding their care. I will be able to collaborate with other members of the care team effectively as well as be able to provide accurate information regarding diagnosis and possible treatment options. Improving my knowledge in respiratory will also help prepare me for the national
certification exam.
Build upon my knowledge of dermatology conditions and disorders. Spend additional time studying the dermatology APEA review module.
Complete dermatology subject specific exams in the APEA myQbank. A consistent score of at least 90% is the goal. I plan to complete these goals during week 3 of this course. In week 3, dermatology is one of the knowledge areas we are to focus on.
After week 3, I will continue to review throughout the course in preparation for the Focusing on dermatology as one of my weak areas will better prepare me to pass my national certification examination.

I will also be better prepared and confident when seeing patients regarding dermatologic complaints in my own
practice.
Become proficient in urology assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Complete dermatology subject specific exams in the APEA myQbank. A consistent score of at least 90% is the goal.
Read at least 5- advanced practice nursing/medical journal articles related to urology.
Review case studies regarding urologic conditions.
Study the urology section from the certification review textbook. I will accomplish these goals by the end of week 7 in this course, but plan to continue to review preparing for the APEA post-predictor exam and national certification exam. Proficiency in urology assessment, diagnosis, and treatment will not only prepare me to pass the national certification exam but will allow me to best prepare for patients regarding urologic conditions in practice. APEA myQbank consists of national certification exam like questions regarding all knowledge areas including urology which will best prepare me to pass the national certification exam. Reading journal articles, case studies, and the urology section of the certification review textbook will build upon my knowledge providing real-life situations preparing me to see these conditions and provide evidence-
based care in practice.
Improve my knowledge of psychiatric disorders. Spend additional time studying the psych APEA review module.
Complete psych subject specific exams in the APEA myQbank. A consistent score of at least 90% is the goal.
Review clinical practice guidelines regarding psychiatric disorders: depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and suicidal behaviors for example.
Attend the online FNP Intensive week 7 of this course and focus on psych during the review. Most of these goals will be completed by the end of week 5.
The FNP intensive review is during week
7. Therefore, that goal will not be completed until then. The content will be reviewed continually until the APEA post- predictor exam. Psychiatric disorders are commonly seen in the primary care setting. During my clinical rotations, I have found that I need improvement on my psych skills.
Improving my skills and knowledge regarding these disorders will allow me to better serve the population by preparing me to see subtle hints that could possibly warrant screening for specific diagnosis. Psychiatric disorders are easy to miss which could be detrimental to the patient being seen and may cause harm. By building upon my current knowledge of psychiatric disorders, I will be able to promptly and accurately screen, diagnose, and treat these disorders.
Build upon pharmacotherapeutics knowledge. Attend a pharmacology and therapeutics review course for nurse practitioners.
Spend additional time on pharmacology and therapeutics when studying all knowledge areas.
Complete pharmacology focused I would like to complete these goals by the end of the course. It is possible that I may have to attend the review course following week 8 of this class, but I plan to make an effort to achieve all within these 8 weeks. Pharmacotherapeutics is a huge topic when practicing as a nurse practitioner. It is within our scope of practice to prescribe medications. By achieving these goals, I will not only have the knowledge to accurately prescribe, but I will also be more
confident when prescribing. These
Shadow Health cases with a DCE of at least 90%.
Review case studies with focus on treatment options, pharmacologic plan, mechanism of action of each drug, and teaching points for the specific drugs used in the case. goals will also build upon my knowledge regarding side effects and teaching points for patients which will help me in my future practice. This is also a testing domain for the national certification exam and these goals will help prepare me to take the exam.
Improve evaluation skills. Focus on the evaluation section when studying specific conditions and diseases in the national certification review book.
Review two-part case studies that has a follow-up visit included.
Review clinical practice guidelines focusing on further tests, outcomes, evaluation, and follow-up.
Attend the online FNP Intensive week 7 of this course and focus on evaluation for each topic/condition/diseas e reviewed. These goals will be completed throughout the 8 weeks of this course. I will achieve these goals prior to the post-predictor exam. Follow-up and evaluation of treatment plans are necessary when caring for patients, especially those with chronic diseases. By completing these goals, I will be able to better assess patient responses and modify treatment plans as needed based upon my findings during follow-up. This allows me to continue care in an evidence- based manner and manage chronic illnesses appropriately. This testing domain is also apart of the AANP FNP certification exam, so improving these skills will allow
me to score higher in this domain.
