It is divided into two; the younger dens ... er oceanic crust and the older thicker continental crust. The earth’s crust is composed of many minerals with eight major ones. These are; oxygen at 47%, silicon at 28%, aluminium at 8%, iron at 5%, magnesium at 4%, calcium at 2%, potassium at 2%, and sodium at 2%. For ease in rembrance, I created a mnemonic for these major minerals found in the make-up of the earth’s crust, which is; One Silly Assumption In Marriage Can Potentiate Struggles A birthstone is a precious stone associated with a certain month. It is believed to direct the lives of the individuals born in that month to good luck. I was born in the month of February and my birthstone is Amethyst. It is an expensive oxide mineral, silica, with the chemical formula, SiO^2. It is a popular world’s gemstone. This is a birthstone for those born in February. It is a long, prismatic crystal-like hollow rock. It is formed from the cooling of mineral water, gases and volcanic material which first form crystals that then form amethyst. This is the first step in which it receives its purple coloring. It has a hardness of seven in the Mohs scale. [Show More]
