Reading Comp: I really didn’t study much for this section. I just read over the study guides and did a few practice questions. Make sure you read the question carefully on the test. I took this se... ction first on exam day, since it’s long and tedious. It’s 2 or 3 questions per passage and I was soooo done already, the passages were 3-5 paragraphs long. Grammar: At first I didn’t think I had to study much for this section until I did some practice questions and didn’t do so well. I would suggest making sure you know everything on the Hesi Book and PRACTICE!!! Know the HESI TIPS on the book too! Most questions were choosing the right/wrong sentence. Read out loud (whisper J) and slow. Vocab: Most questions (choosing what word goes best in this sentence format). Many were basic vocab and listed on the Hesi book. Use context clue. Math: I took this section 2nd and I felt it was easy but if you’re not good at math do many practice questions. There is a calculator available (drop down) throughout the whole test. There are some fill in questions. Many word problems (read questions carefully!). Know ALL the metric table on the Hesi book (top tips: KING HENRY DIED BY DRINKING CHOCOLATE MILK and the G drawing for GALLON (inside 4 Q(quarts), 8P(pints), 16(cups). Remember to reduce fractions!
