Additionally, this assignment will furthermore identify the social determinants of heath (SDOH) contributing to the family’s health status. The Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) The earlier mentioned, the family has been having several health issues that are affecting its overall family health status. The family comprised of the parents and two children age 12-year-old female and 16 year old male respectively. Based on the assessment of the family health behaviors, there are different health behaviors notable that include irresponsible dietary choices and substance abuse. Additionally, the father showed signs of tobacco smoking, which has been associated with a lot of health challenges including risk to chronic illnesses (US Department of Health and Human Services, 2014). Both the children and their father have obesity issues. Besides, the father is also a mild smoker of tobacco. One of the social determinants that are affecting the health of the family is availability of resources to meet daily needs (e.g., local food markets and safe housing) (Magnan, 2017). Due to the access of food in the market in Westerville Columbus, Ohio has affected the health status of the family. The marketplace of Westerville has created a platform for the residents to buy fast foods that are of high fats, sugar, and salt levels. As such, the increased in foods with high cholesterols have lead the family to experience health issues. Additionally, this is because of increase in cheap and available fast foods that always have high cholesterol. The family has been taking foods without having a dietary teaching plan of a balance diet.
