NR 599 Week 7: Post TANIC-Self-Assessment and Reflection Post Nursing informatics is highly recommended as a nursing skill. As APN’s we must develop a skill level to informatics. According to Corco... ran & Graves, “Informatics is the management and processing of nursing data, information science and nursing science is proposed as an area for study. The premises for such study and the key concepts and relationships are discussed.” (Corcoran & Graves, 1989) Nursing informatics is highly important being that so much is managed by it. Over the last seven weeks we have been learning about nursing informatics and all that entails. Informatics is used for many uses to provide simpler access to records that are needed and to allow providers with a method to store live data for efficient patient care. This week we are discussing how our competencies level have improved over the weeks and comparing our pre and post TANIC Self-Assessment. After I compared the pre and post Self-Assessment I have realized that majority of the choices for week 2 I went from choosing the competent level and to now in week 7 of the post self-assessment I choose proficient. I have realized that I understood more than I thought. For instant, I became more proficient in exhibiting information on a screen and communication electronically. Nursing informatics is of high importance for nurse practitioners, now a days everything is kept computerized and paper documents aren’t used nearly as much a couple of competencies that will benefit me in my future as a APN is update data and information and demonstrate procedures for maintaining security of PHI. I believe these competencies will benefit me as a APN by allowing me the knowledge to add to my patient medical record and protect their personal health records. .........Continued..... [Show More]
