Biology > Lab Report > BIOLOGY LAB REPORT : Effects of Temperature on Enzymes Report (All)
Introduction There are several conditions that can alter the activities of the enzymes, and among them include temperature, pH, and the changes in concentration of the substrate among other molecules... with the ability to bind to the enzymes. According to Starr, Evers, and Starr (2005), enzymes reach maximum activity within a specified range of temperature, and changes in temperature out of this range can alter the activity of the enzymes. Notably, temperature affects all proteins, and as a protein, once the temperature rises, there is an increase in kinetic motions of the amino acid chains and collisions between enzymes. As the temperatures increase, disturbances increase to a level that denatures the enzymes. The enzymatic catalysis activity is affected by either an increase or a decrease in temperature. This laboratory experiment aimed to evaluate the impact of temperature on enzymatic activity. Research Question: What is the effect of temperature on enzyme activity? [Show More]
