A. What are the roles and responsibilities the educator has for their unit/level? Are they able to delegate some of these responsibilities to others? Could there be additional tasks delegated to this ... leader? Answers: With following this educator I can see how this particular role is the backbone of every unit. Not only are they responsible for ensuring the nurses meet all their educational needs required by the hospital, but also the nurses aide and even the nurse managers themselves. For example, my preceptor when to a call titled Teaching the Teachers or something to that affect, where they were taught tools and different things to take to the nurse managers on their units. While there is no one to specifically delegate things to, the nurse educator can escalate things to their nurse manager if it needs their direct attention; but often the educators of each unit utilize each other. The come together regularly to meet and even having their scheduling set up on one excel program in order to balance and assiatst one another. B. Why do you think this position is considered a leadership role? What value does this role add to the organization to employees and patients? How might they improve on their leadership role? Answer: Yes. As I stated above there are the backbone of the unit and, in my opinion, have more duties then the nurse managers.
