Epidemiologic research methods are used to identify and describe causative factors of three major health-related community issues in Greene County such as the epidemic of obesity, opioid addiction, and high prevalence of Lyme disease. Public health approaches to epidemiological problems of Greene County is discussed based on local community programs and services. Overall, the Greene County community health assessment is described as a comprehensive evaluation of the community’s health status that helps to define interactions between people, health and environment, identify unmet needs, mobilize community resources, plan interventions, and evaluate outcomes. Greene County Community Health Assessment A community health assessment is a systematic process of gathering and analyzing epidemiological, socioeconomic, and statistical data about health and health behaviors within the community population (Gordis, 2014). The specifics of the GC community assessment is that many organizations and services are shared between the GC and Columbia County, and numerous GC residents routinely travel for work, education, medical services, and leisure activities to nearby counties.
