Approaches to take in responding to a work of art One of the approaches to respond to a work of art includes focussing on what and how colors are used to create a painting. In addition, the quality... , as well as shade, can be used to respond to a work of art. For instance, in the painting, The Elder Sister (1869) illustrates different shades of color both bright, dull, warm, and bright to illustrate the correlation of the elder sister, her feelings, her environment, and the weather all in one painting. Art is meant to stir reactions towards the depicted image or notion hence triggering response respective to the nature of the art[ CITATION Mar18 \l 1033 ]. The painting triggers various emotions such as love, warmth, care, and trust among others. However, non-art projects tend to have a specific intellectual and emotional response. For instance, coca-cola advertisement only produces curiosity in the product[ CITATION Mur09 \l 1033 ]. People do not focus on individuals, colors, or personal feelings, but the product being advertised. Such curiosity can be satisfied once an individual goes for the advertised products. Line, color, texture, and composition determine how people perceive art. Lines are used to capturing the essence as well as the shape of a given object. The lines are also used to create the illusion of three-dimensional space[ CITATION Wen03 \l 1033 ]. Color is used to enhance the environment, create a message, or evoke a certain mood such as love, as observed in The Elder Sister 1869. This is also similar to the use of different texture to provoke different emotions such as a sense of warmth in cases where a painting has soft raised textures. References Martin, F., & Jacobus, L.
