Among the observable phenotypes of C. elegans are blistered worms, with fluid filled blisters on their cuticles possibly caused by a genetic mutation. To identify this genetic mutation, we can isolate the blistered phenotypes and determine the gene responsible for the blistered gene product by using forward genetic screening. Understanding the biological process involved in the blistering of tissue of C. elegans can contribute to the understanding of a similar biological process in humans. [Show More]
