Creature Care Animal Clinic 1- The operations management problems that Dr. Barr is experiencing are due to the original service design and concept were miscalculated when the clinic was opened. Due ... to the rapid growth of the business and the underestimation of the quick success and additional services that were desired, they have outgrown their current space. There are also issues with her current staffing and hours of operation. The clinic seems as though it is busy enough to warrant the hiring of more employees and extending the hours to evening and weekends. One of her nurses is acting as a groomer, which is located in a space that is interrupting the work flow in the office. The customers are commenting to the groomer in the back of the office, causing her to lose focus on work and also disrupting the receptionist. Offering the grooming services is way off track from her original business plan and causing problems within the actual vet clinic. She is also paying a nurse to perform animal grooming and regular nursing duties, all at a nurse’s salary. 2- Originally, Dr. Barr had intentions to provide outpatient animal care with overnight services for surgical patients only. The clinic was specifically designed with this vision in mind, just big enough to house their original purpose. They soon found that their clients were requesting services that were not included in the original plan, such as pet grooming and minor surgical procedures that required overnight stays.
