Atheism: belief based only on the natural or physical realm with no spiritual or supernatural
Pantheism: belief that “all is god” and in a strong sense of spiritualism but not in a personal god
Theism: belief in a personal and relational god who created and sustains all that exists
Deism: belief in a god who created all things but is not relational or involved in the world
Young Earth View: (recent creation) genesis 1 refers to seven-day period in which the universe was
created, earth is thousands of years old, humanity is uniquely created by god
Old Earth View: (day-age view) refers to seven ages of time in which the universe was created, earth is
billions of years old, humanity is uniquely created by god
Theistic Evolution: (evolutionary creationism, fully gifted creation) refers to matter or essence being
created by god, evolution is the tool god uses to expand and grow the universe, god used the process of
evolution in the natural world
Sovereign: sovereign means that god has supreme authority over his creation
Creation: the first act of the biblical story where god made everything that exists out of nothing
Fall: theological expression that speaks to the second act of the biblical storyline in which adam and eve
did not believe god and sinned when tempted by the devil
Redemption: purchase of something or someone out of bondage by a greater party; action of Jesus

and resurrection in order to set them free from sin for relationship with him
Restoration: when people have been freed from sin to new life, jesus continues to work in their lives,
healing the scars of sin and brokenness, and making them new; they become restored to wholeness and
their lives become marked by grace and love; god is not only restoring individuals, but all of creation,
fixing brokenness in the world; this process will continue until the eventual restoration of all things,
when everything is made new- new heavens, new earth, and new bodies for people
