She was born into a family of five
Together with her mother, they hated her father due to his controlling etiquette.
Together with her siblings, they were not given a chance to enroll in school but instead
worked as casual laborers in farms.
At the age of seven, she traveled alone by train to see some relatives and in the course of
the voyage; the train suddenly stopped throwing her head on the metal of the seat thus
injuring her.
This caused her constant depression, migraines, and amnesia.
While growing up she read her mother’s magazines mostly on romance and hoped to
have a fantastic future full of love.
She loved the column that addressed the solitude hearts.
Her father had forbidden them from applying any make-ups and revealing clothes as he
thought they may be molested but they still put on the make-up.
Their childhood was so strict that they were even forbidden from attending any social
functions.
Their parenting style of the father brought a lot of tension and discomfort at home.
Doss only managed to interact with the opposite sex in 1921 when she landed on her first
employment
