Introduction: One purpose to this lab is to brominate trans-stilbene through an electrophilic addition mechanism using a reflux condenser. The bromine for the reaction will be created in situ from h... ydrobromic acid and hydrogen peroxide. The final product will be crystalized out of solution, vacuum filtered, and characterized through its melting point.
