TASK A
A1. Assessment overview (type, purpose, and expected outcomes of the assessment) Students will complete a one-minute paper to indicate what they learned and what was difficult to comprehend, about the role of the community health nurse, during Module 1. The purpose of this one-minute paper is to assess the understanding of the role of the nurse in the community working with various vulnerable populations. It is expected that students will be able to discuss the role of the community health nurse, the concept of community, the definition of vulnerable populations, strategies used to educate various vulnerable populations, and the settings that community health nurses can practice. This ensures that students have a strong foundation to upon the subsequent modules.
A2. Module title (C920 material) Introduction to Community and Public Health Nursing
Course objectives (C920 material) Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. Explain the fundamentals and principles of community health nursing.
2. Connect the concept of health promotion and disease prevention in the community.
3. Compare the relationship between human health and the environment.
Student learning outcomes (C920 material) Upon completion of this module, the student will be able to:
1. Describe the history of providing care in the community to vulnerable populations.
2. Discuss the evolving role of the Registered Nurse in community health.
A2a. Assessment Activity Alignment (i.e. align your selected assessment activity with course objective and student learning outcomes) This formative assessment aligns with the course objectives by confirming that students can compare the relationship between human health and the environment and discuss the evolution of the registered nurse in the community. They will be able to articulate the history of the registered nurse and prevention of diseases in the community.
A3. Cognitive level to be measured by the formative assessment Analysis. Students should be able to examine and interpret the information learned during the module. Student learners will interpret the course material then organize and articulate the information they understand about community health nurses in this
one-minute paper.
