PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT 3 My philosophy is one in which respect, compassion and a holistic form of care are at the center of every approach. As a new nurse, you think that supporting, advocating, and ... providing ordered treatments for your patients solidifies nursing. As you grow through further education and experience you realize that this is only a small portion. As an advanced practice nurse, I believe in a patient centered-holistic care. I feel that although a patient may be admitted to a psych ward due to a psychotic break, or maybe attending an annual physical to join the military, that the care needed for that patient goes far beyond prescribing an antipsychotic or giving an annual flu shot.
