Document Content and Description Below

Running head: NSG6430_WEEK_2 1 NSG6430_WEEK_2 IHUMAN PATIENT (ANGELA) ESSAY NSG6430_WEEK_2 2 NSG6430_WEEK_2 The iHuman patient Angela was interested in being in the office, to begin with, she fel... t like the visit was unwarranted and unnecessary. She expressed a cascade of emotions as she was tearful, anxious and at times angry as she was reactionary due to a breakup she experienced with her boyfriend. The separation caused the iHuman patient angst because her girlfriend and boyfriend entered into a relationship which caused affected her academically in her coursework at school. As a result of her being 17 years old, the clinician must focus on asking open-ended questions to allow the patient to provide an expressive response that encompasses the patient’s understanding and feelings. Building a rapport with the patient will motivate the patient to share and discuss their feelings (Miller & Rollnick, 2013). The questions that would assist the clinician in identifying a diagnosis during the interview would include the following questions: When did the fatigue start? Ask the patient about her self- esteem, occurrences of crying spells (per day and for what length of time), and any thoughts of hurting herself or others? Does the patient have a suicide plan or vague ideas of suicide? Ask about alcohol or illicit drug misuse? Ask her if she has any increases or decreases insleep (quality of sleep), appetite, and weight. Any changes in appearance? A loss of energy? Any psychomotor retardation (slowing down of thought or reduction of physical movement)? Any problems with attention span, agitation, frustration intolerance, concentration or memory, mild paranoia? Ask if she has a depressed mood, anxiety, or irritability? Does she have digestive symptoms nausea, constipation, diarrhea, and dry mouth? Does she have headaches, muscle aches, or unexplained pains (Cash & Glass, 2017)? [Show More]
