Case Study Chamberlain College of Nursing NR 601: Primary Care of the Maturing and Aged Family Practicum This case study involves the assessment of Mrs. G, a 55-year-old Hispanic female who pres... ents to the office with varied symptoms and the complaint of not losing weight. Potential diagnoses will be reached after considering symptoms, laboratory tests, and pertinent positives and negatives with rationale. A plan of care will be implemented to include diagnostic tests, medications, education, diet, and exercise. Assessment Primary Diagnosis: Diabetes type 2 without complications (E11.9) Pathophysiology: Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) results from insulin resistance, which develops from lipid deposits in the liver, muscles, and pancreas, thereby causing a decline in pancreatic ß-cell function (Skyler et al., 2017).
