The Articles of Confederations created an ineffective government by the lack of ability to
regulate foreign affairs, made it difficult to pass and amend laws, and the government
couldn’t create taxes.
Supporting Point 1: The Articles of confederations wasn’t capable to control and handle foreign affairs for example,
debt. The 13 colonies each had their own money and currency systems which made it difficult to
make decisions on foreign affairs and deals.
Specific Evidence: "Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom, and independence, and every power,
jurisdiction, and right, which is not by this Confederation expressly delegated to the United
States, in Congress assembled…Each state could and often did act for its own benefit and did
not consider the good of the whole nation. Other nations could take advantage of difference
in the states' trade agreements.” ,from the lesson.

argument?
This point supports my argument that the government didn’t have power over the states and the
foreign exchanges and affairs that were occurring. Some states traded with other nations just for
themselves, not the whole country. This caused a lot of selfishness and separation of the country
Supporting Point 2: The Articles of Confederation made it difficult to pass and amend laws for the country. If there
was a discrepancy there wasn’t anybody to solve it. Also, they had no way enforce the laws
across the whole nation. The states had their own laws and it was easier to enforce them within
their own state and it seemed like the states had more individual power as the national
government didn’t have a way to make laws official and to enforce. The states had to agree to
