The paper investigates whether grit can be used to predict the seven indicators of students in SRL and whether grit and SRL can be used to understand academic achievement. The paper reviews various studies that indicate the importance of grit in academic achievement ,exercise and reduced suicide attempts ,it continues to give us an idea of what self-regulated learning is and the focal point for the study will be how motivation self-efficacy and value of the reading material can affect self-regulated learning. The paper contributes to the field of psychology by filling the gap that shows the relation of grit and core indicators of SRL, students who were more diligent indicated to have more interest and confidence in their coursework. The study also contributes on various ways to measure grit which are persistence of effort and consistency of work this will help in other studies that will require conceptualization of grit ,the study implies that establishment of long-time goals by students will promote their academic achievement .
