Module 02 General Psychology Self-directed Assignment Scientific method The scientific method is a method used to discover more knowledge about the world based on making hypothesis, testing the hyp... othesis and then coming up with theories that can explain the data gotten. Scientists believe it follows the following steps: Observe a phenomenon and ask questions about it, make a hypothesis or a possible solution to the question, test the hypothesis, interpret and analyze the data then you can draw conclusions from the results. The scientific method is important psychology since it allows replication and confirmation of data it also studies to be tested and validated(Haig, 2018). The article “Gender differences in social anxiety disorder by Maya Asher and Idan M. Aderka examines whether there is a significant difference in number of men and women with social anxiety disorder(SAD). I was able to see the steps of the scientific method that were used and how they led to the conclusion. The research article started by stating the purpose which was to focus on gender differences in social anxiety disorder and examine them systematically and comprehensively, unlike other studies which were about lifetime SAD this research focused more on those who have had SAD for 12-months.
