The cultural influences and the motivations for doing random acts of kindness to strangers are explored in folktales... . One of the folktales which explores such a theme is “the young man and his vampire brother” by Yugoslav Romany. In this folktale, a young man is chased away from home by her step mom who they have several disputes. His father chooses to send him away to remain with the new wife.
