According to Kaili (2008), risk factors are defined as unemployment, poverty, divorce, and many others. Therefore, the Stanley family two risk factors were low wage paid jobs and financial issues. For example, the father was unemployment and obtained countless amounts of low wage paid jobs. Most of the jobs as mentioned were low pay and had no benefits to rely on. This issue formed another risk factor to the Stanley family which were financial problems. Due to an unstable and unqualified job, the Stanley family experienced issues with finances. Furthermore, this meant that the marital relationship had challenges to pay bills and had no thoughts towards their retirement plans. The family dynamic for the Neumann family included many changes from being a stable household to unstable. For example, the most impacted change that occurred in the film was between the marital relationship. Terry and Tony were a married couple at the beginning of the film. So, by the end they were divorced due to the many challenges they faced. The two risk factors that affected the family included poverty and divorce. The Neumann family experienced poverty because of many reasons. For instance, they obtained jobs but, they were low paid. In addition, their mortgage had raised and as a result, the Neumann family lost their home. This risk factor plays an impact on the next one which is the divorce risk factor. According to Baca Zinn (2011) it states, that the emotional quality of family life has an overall impact in the emotional relationships and as a result, it causes negative and positive feelings.
