Facial Recognition Mini Lab Ginny M. Grady University of Maryland University College Facial Recognition Mini Lab Abstract Facial Recognition, a trick your eyes are playing on you? We all ... have a twin or someone who looks very similar to us on earth; These people could be related or not and still have some of the outstanding features that look very similar and even in detail. In this experiment, I asked twenty men and twenty women to complete a facial recognition lab. This computer based lab is a series of faces displayed on screen at once followed by one single face that may or may not have been in the grouping. The participant selected YES or NO resulting in whether or not they saw the face displayed. My hypothesis is to prove that women have a higher average for facial recognition then men do. After completing this experiment on facial recognition, I have evaluated some data, and concluded that women have a higher average for correctly identifying facial recognition then men. This experiment was conducted to identify the difference between men and women on facial recognition results. I shouldn’t be surprised by the results that women clearly have the better eye for features than men did. Women have been known to outperform men in this category for some time now. According to Science Daily (1), since 1970, there has been research done to prove that women are better at recognizing facial features than men. I, personally feel that I’m on the lower end of that statistic. I feel as if my memory is mush. I can’t count how many times in my career of 12 years when there has been Sailors who approach me saying that they remember me from some command that I served with them on and I have no clue who they are. Except for myself, women are clearly the superior sex in this matter. .............................................................................continued.......................................................................................................
