The themes of national identities have dominated the nature of debates about the security policies adopted in different countries. The national security policy adopted in a country has an impact on th... e manner in which future interactions and engagements with other countries evolve. The risks which need to be considered during the development of the security policy keep changing and vary from time to time. The concept of security has been closely linked with the survival of the national politics and state. Events such as increased cases of terrorism have opened the debate on how countries approach security. However, the political alliances formulated overtime mean the threat of war has dissipated but that has not caused a slowdown in securitization. Changes in the world political order means that ‘risks’ rather than threats have become central when looking to guarantee security of citizens.
