CHINESE AND INDIAN TEA CULTURE, A COMPARISON

Document Content and Description Below

As one of the traditional beverages, tea is held in high regard by both the Indian and the Chinese people. Tea was first grown in China but has since spread and is found in several other places across... the world. Despite the growth in popularity of other drinks such as soft drinks and alcohol, the popularity of tea has not waned and it is considered as one of the healthy drinks. World production of tea has increased by a rate of 4.4% annually over the last 10 years. China accounted for 42.6 percent of the tea produced with an output of 2.44 million tons in 2018. India the second largest producer produced 1.27 million tons in the same period. This is an indication that the tea culture in the two countries is rich and has existed over the years. Even with the advent of colonialism, the tea culture among the Chinese and the Indians has not waned. Looking at how the culture has developed in the two rich cultures is crucial as it will help show how consumption of tea has been adopted differently among people in China and India. [Show More]
