Health and Wealth
It’s sad to know that we live in a world that is unfair financially where many families will
never be able to live the life they deserve. Poverty and low income are making families
unhealthy because of what they cannot afford. Health and wealth is an issue in today’s society
because higher income families tend to be healthy whereas lower income families have
psychological illnesses leading to stress; physical process that starts in the brain. Health and
wealth is a correlation in society showing the more income you receive the more likely you are
to be healthy. I know growing up my family we did not have money. I grew up homeless doing
what I could for food and to survive. Getting food and staying healthy was almost an
impossibility. It’s difficult for lower income families because they struggle to afford health care.
Research shows that low income families have a bigger risk of having psychological and
physical health problems. I know growing up I did not have a physical at all because health care
was not in the plan for my family. Also transportation to the doctor was not available. These
issues lead to stress. Stress is a complex set of physical processes that starts in the brain. I know I
